The Origin of the Sanctuary

There is a longing in every soul—a quiet hope for something authentic, transformative, and deeply connected to the Divine. We recognized that religious routine had left too many seekers outside the gates, so we built a digital sanctuary where the spiritually curious can rest, reflect, and grow.

For years, a small circle of seekers gathered in quiet rooms, on late-night calls, and in the comment sections of a YouTube channel called THE UNGATED SANCTUARY. They came from different backgrounds, some raised in church, some disillusioned by it, some who had never darkened a doorway but could not shake the sense that something real was calling to them.

What united them was a single question:

Is there more to Christ than what we have been shown?

They had tried the routines. They had memorized the phrases. They had sat through services that felt more like performances than encounters. And somewhere along the way, they realized that religion had given them a great deal of information about God but very little experience of God. The gate was supposed to be open, yet they kept finding themselves outside it, knocking, waiting, wondering if the invitation had been revoked.

The truth, they discovered, was simpler and more startling than they expected. The gate was never closed. The Sanctuary was never gated at all. It was they who had been carrying a map that stopped too soon, a story that ended before the resurrection, and a version of faith that treated the living Christ as a memory rather than a presence.

Leadership & Vision

Rev. Dr. Aristarchus Abraham Christson Sr.

As an Ordained Christian currently pursuing a PhD, Rev. Dr. Christson draws from a diverse foundation of leadership across the business, pastoral, healthcare, and educational sectors. Recognizing a profound need for a new kind of spiritual space, he established The Ungated Sanctuary to connect ancient apostolic wisdom to the practical realities of modern life.

A Christway Ministry

We call this a Christway ministry because we are not interested in creating another religious brand. We are interested in a way, an ancient way, a narrow way, a living way, that leads through Christ into the uncreated Light. The early Christians did not call themselves a religion; they called themselves followers of the Way. We want to recover that posture.

A Christway is not a detour around tradition. It is a path through the heart of it. The Scriptures, the sacraments, the prayers, the fellowship, these are not obstacles to encounter. They are doors. But a door is only useful if someone walks through it. Our aim is to help people walk through.

The Three Pillars

Out of that hunger, three core pillars guide our path:

Engage the Seeker

We believe every person who feels the spiritual itch is being drawn by God, not merely by curiosity. We create spaces, videos, conversations, written reflections, and personal correspondence, where seekers can bring their honest questions without being shamed into silence.

Equip the Soul

Encounter without formation is fragile; formation without encounter is hollow. We teach the ancient practices of prayer, fasting, meditation on Scripture, and spiritual reading, not as religious obligations but as tools that open the soul to grace. Our hope is that every member of the Sanctuary learns to pray with depth, think with clarity, and live with discernment.

Empower the Spirit

The Christian life is not a self-improvement project. It is a life lived by the Spirit of God, who empowers ordinary women and men to become witnesses of Light. We encourage one another to step beyond the walls of private devotion into active service, generosity, and the proclamation of the good news in word and deed.

A Diverse, Ungated Community

We engage all among God’s people, inside and outside traditional church settings, in a shared pursuit of truth, transformation, and hope, trusting that authentic worship in spirit and truth will grow naturally out of this open space.
